Running on Auto-Pilot
By Emily - Mindful Career Journey
Do you feel stuck, running on auto-pilot?
You hit snooze several times every morning, as you struggle to get out of bed - trying to get every bit of sleep you can since you’re exhausted, feeling anxious as you drag yourself to work and rely on caffeine to power through the day.
Upon logging-in, the stress begins, as the emails and messages await. You try to respond as quickly as you can before your first series of back-to-back meetings while thinking about the workload that lies ahead.
Before you know it, it’s nearly the end of the day and it was a blur. You can’t remember anything - wondering whether you even took a break to eat.
You’re ready to shut down for the day, just to do it all over again tomorrow. You’re feeling numb, then at some point, depression sets in - you start to question life. “Is this what life is all about?”
You always felt there was more to life. Now what?
Does this resonate?
If so, you may want to pause and reflect on the following question:
Is your role aligned with your passions and personal values?
If not, it may be one of the contributing factors leading to burnout.
Find purpose and fulfillment beyond external rewards. Chasing the fancy titles and high salary will make you appear successful on the exterior, but you may experience a feeling of emptiness in your soul.
