When Someone Stops Caring, It’s Not Laziness. It’s A Red Flag 🚩

By Emily - Mindful Career Journey

You know the type of person I’m talking about……always on top of things, reliable, detail-oriented, driven.

Then suddenly……they
- Are quiet in meetings
- Stop offering ideas

- Miss deadlines

This isn’t a performance issue, it’s BURNOUT.

Disengagement does not happen overnight.  It creeps in when someone’s been running on empty for too long.  When stress becomes chronic.  When the pressure to perform outweighs the capacity to keep up.

In high-performance cultures, we often don’t notice until it’s too late.
That moment when someone checks out emotionally?
That is the moment to lean in, not back away.

Disengagement is a symptom, not a flaw.
It’s a signal that there is something deeper that requires attention.

If this resonates for yourself or someone on your team, don’t ignore it.

Burnout can be fixed……but only if we stop pretending it’s just a “bad attitude.”
